INSIDE THE BLACKBOX (SUPERVISED LEARNING)

Inside The BlackBox (Supervised Learning)is a video work and series of testing apparatus props. The work is the first chapter of an ongoing world-building project exploring algorithms and politics. It imagines political system driven by data within which individuals can train algorithms, their ‘data doubles’ to become politicians, representing them in a digitally driven direct democracy.

The video shows a users growing frustration as he struggles to use arbitrary tools to train his algorithm for an upcoming referendum. The film slides between the user at an interface for the training software and his imagining of the processes happening inside the blackbox.
